Cara Tierney and Theo Pelmus, Performance Artists

Performance artists Cara Tierney and Theo Pelmus have created a piece which brings the art form back to its native home, the street, and pays tribute to the history of Performance Art. Borrowing the cues and symbols of performance art initiators John Cage, Allan Kaprow and Joseph Beuys they will be creating a scene (or not… but most likely) the length of Richmond Road. At once absurd and keenly pointed, their presence is sure to amuse, befuddle, and entertain.

Success Lion Dance Troupe

The Chinese Lion Dance is a 3000-year-old Chinese tradition that symbolizes prosperity, luck and happiness. According to legends, the dance tells about a creature that terrorized villagers with thunder, lightning and rain. However, the aftermath resulted in a bountiful harvest for the villages. Subsequently, the dance is performed in every festivity with the thundering sounds of drums, cymbals and gongs. The Success Lion Dance Troupe has been performing in the Ottawa-Carleton region for over 15 years with an objective to promote the traditional Chinese culture and support community events.
